First Baptist Church has a rich history and an exciting future. God has been the source of tremendous growth. We have gone from an average attendance of 32 in 1987 to almost 1,000 today.
The Church began at 209 East Main Street and was officially organized on March 4, 1945. In 1987 our church relocated to six acres at 2184 Vadalabene Drive. My wife Cindy and I were called to serve here in that same year. Two worship services were held Sunday mornings from December 1988 to March 1991 until the new 500-seat sanctuary was completed.
In 1995 our church stepped out in faith again and purchased 35 acres at 7110 Illinois State Route 162 in anticipation of God's work in the community. Our first service at our present location was on July 9, 2000 with over 1200 in attendance.
One thing that makes our church special is the people. From the caring staff to the friendliness of our diverse congregation, you will quickly discover at First Baptist that we are committed to truly being a family in Christ.
