About Pastor Fred
Pastor Fred was born Wednesday, December 4, 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri.
During his high school years, Fred felt the call to full time ministry.
He graduated from Raytown South High School in 1982. He and Cindy Lee
Jackson met in the summer of 1984 and were married September 7, 1987.
Fred graduated with his BA from Southwest Baptist University in 1985
and received his Master’s degree in Systematic Theology and Church
History from Wheaton Graduate School in 1986. Pastor Fred and Cindy came to serve
at First Baptist Church in 1987 when the church consisted of a small number of
families. Pastor Fred earned a Master’s of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary in 1991 and a Doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological
Seminary. Fred served as president of the Illinois Baptist State Association
and an adjunct professor for Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He and Cindy welcomed daughters Alysia Grace in 1995 and Cassidy Hope in 1997.
In 2007, Fred and Cindy celebrated 20 years of marriage and 20 years of
service at First Baptist Church Maryville. Today, First Baptist Church Maryville
has an average Sunday attendance of over 1,200, a testament to Pastor Fred’s
devotion to solid, Biblical teaching, encouraging spirit, and prayerful direction.
“Fred Winters was the love of my life. With his outgoing personality,
charm, and sense of humor, he was such an easy person to love. He was my
best friend, confidant, cheerleader, and the person I looked up to the most.
Although he is gone from this earth, he will remain in my heart forever.
I eagerly look forward to once again seeing his smiling face, hearing him
laugh, and feeling his warm embrace.” - Cindy Winters
