One important part of our discipleship training and outreach efforts is REACH. REACH is held each Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. starting January 22 through May 27. Each Sunday School class and attender is encouraged to participate once a month. The session begins with evangelism training and is followed by visitation to prospects for our church. It is important that every Sunday School class have two participants attend each week and follow up on prospects for their class. However, the class is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about sharing their faith and reaching our community for Christ. Childcare is provided.

Sharing Jesus Without Fear / The Case for the Resurrection of Jesus

Leaders: Terry Albl, Scott Biggers, Brian Sheehan

Cost: $5     Wednesdays, January 9 - March 26     7 p.m.     Room 241

The goal of each believer in evangelism is to ask questions and to rely on the Holy Spirit to do the convicting and convincing. The first four weeks of this class presents a natural, non-threatening approach that teaches you to simply communicate the Gospel by initiating casual conversations about faith. These "door openers" lead people to learn for themselves what the Word of God has to say.  We are building on those 4 weeks with a beginning apologetics study to include historical evidence for the Resurrection, the reliability of the scriptures, and evidence for creation vs evolution.

Cost: N/A     Wednesdays, January 9 - March 26     7 p.m.     Room 245

Grief Share consists of twelve weeks of one-hour grief support meetings for both women and men. Attendees can be grievers that are newly bereaved or might be individuals that have experienced a loss months or years ago. The sessions are meant for those who have lost a loved one to death- a husband, wife, child, parent, sibling, or other close friend. We will use a combination of formal Grief Share session materials as well as traditional, tried and tested materials tailored to individual needs. There will also be time for discussion and sharing. Sometimes the hardest part of dealing with grief is walking through the door to get the information and support that will help start your healing process. We encourage you to take this step and begin your healing. If you have questions or would like more info, please contact Ken and Sharon Theis at 344-4931.

Strength for the Journey: A Biblical Perspective on Discouragement & Depression

Cost: N/A     Wednesdays, January 9 - March 26     7 p.m.     Rm. 250 C/D

For Women Only

Are you a person who has struggled or is struggling with discouragement or depression? Or could you be a person who wants to understand and minister to those who do? Depression continues to be the number one health problem in America. Dr. Porowski and Dr. Carlisle believe the Biblical answer for the person who feels discouraged or depressed is hope. This study focuses on understanding depression: what it is, what causes it, and how individuals can discover hope and healing in their walk with Jesus Christ. Developed with six specific goals in mind, this study helps you:

1. Understand depression, its causes and symptoms

2. Discover the role hopelessness plays in discouragement and depression

3. Recognize the importance of hope in facing and overcoming depression

4. Understand how Biblical characters looked to the God of hope in facing and overcoming discouragement and depression

5. Learn to apply Biblical principles for those who face depression

6. Understand a Biblical model for healing

The Book of Acts

Leader: Chris Kuhl

Cost: N/A     Wednesdays, January 9 - March 26     7 p.m.     Room 238

A pilot spoke over the intercom of a flight one evening. He said, "I have good news and bad news...the good news is that we are making record time. The bad news is that we are lost!’

So many of us this time of year are so very busy with activity but many of us haven’t ever stopped to ponder the reason we were created and the work we were made to do. What are we doing here? What did God make us for? What am I supposed to be doing in view of the Big Picture. Studying the book of Acts gives us the big picture about the time we live in and the mission we have been given in this church age. Imagine how confused you would be if, in reading your New Testament, you turned the last page of the Gospel of John and discovered—Romans! ‘How did the church get to Rome?’ you would ask yourself; and the answer is found in the Book of Acts. How did our Gospel transition primarily from a Jewish faith to one that made sense for the Greeks and Romans? Why did our Lord, Peter and Paul have both Jewish and Greek names? We will explore these themes and much more as we dig into the roots of the Christian movement.
